Jak’s Grill
My love for food led me to spend the summer exploring Seattle’s best burger spots. Using the Seattle Metropolitan “Best Burgers” article as guide, I started my own burger quest. Today, I am reviewing Jak’s Grill in Issaquah.
I have heard from my friends that Jak’s Grill makes a mean burger and I wanted to try it for myself. Now, Jak’s Grill is an upscale steakhouse with a dark tavern like atmosphere and a friendly hostess/waitstaff. One would expect that beef is their specialty and they know what they are doing. I knew that this was going to be a good burger when the server asked me how I wanted the burger to be cooked. Many places don’t ask and very few places execute the order correctly. I was pleasantly surprised when my full pound, medium burger with cheese and bacon arrived at my table, cooked to perfection. The meat’s texture was wonderful and was seasoned better than any of the places I have tried so far on my quest. The chef definitely knows to make a burger. The only drawback was that I would have preferred a single one pound burger rather than the two half pound patties. The two patties made it extremely difficult and messy to eat and my server had a chuckle watching me stuff the burger in my mouth. This was an great burger even if the bun could not contain all the wonderful meat juice and soaked my hands, arms, and almost my shirt. After the experience with the burger, I was prepared to be disappointed by the fries. Many places concentrate on the burger so much that the fries often feel like an afterthought. Not at Jak’s. Their shoestring fries were some of best seasoned (with green onion slivers) and perfectly cooked fries I have ever had. If you want a great burger AND fries experience, go to Jak’s Grill
